项目摘要

研究課的である「地域社会指標を用いた社会変動過程の分析」を行なうにあたり、本年度は、(1)社会指標収集の理論的指針となる社会変動論の検討(2)社会指標収集の方法の検討(3)地域社会指標の収集、の3つの作業を行なった。(1)社会指標収集の理論的指針となる社会変動論の検討社会変動過程の実証分析を行なうには、研究対象の空間的・時間的な限定が必要である。そこで先行研究を検討した結果、空間的には日本社会を対象とし、時間的には戦後期に限定することが、もっとものぞましいことが明らかになった。戦前の社会と戦後の社会はどこか違うのか、あるいは戦後の社会変動の中で変わったものと変わらなかったものは何か、という視点から戦後社会の実証分析を試みることにした。(2)社会指標収集の方法の検討日本社会全体の指標と地域社会指標の接合、客観指標(経済指標など)と主観指標の接合の問題を検討した。また時系列分析の方法の検討を行なったが、時系列デ-タとクロスセクションデ-タの接合はきわめて難しいことが明らかになった。(3)社会指標の収集市町村単位の客観指標については、ある程度収集できたが、主観指標については所期の目標通りには収集できなかった。収集されたデ-タをパ-ソナルコンピュ-タに貯蔵する方法を検討した。(3)の作業は、部分的なものにとどまったが、3つの作業を通して、戦後日本社会が大きな変貌をとげたこと、それとともに地域社会間の関係もかなり変化したことが明らかになった。また、1990年代になり、日本社会が転換点に立っていることも、ある程度実証デ-タにもとづいて解明された。
