本研究の目的は、タイ国東北部の居住民の大半を占めるラ-オ系タイ人の家族・親族関係の諸特徴を、当該地域における一稲作村落の形成に関与した草分けたちとその子孫の生活史(主に開拓史)を通して明らかにすることにある。この目的の遂行にあったっては、(A)すでに聞き取りによって収集されている下記の基礎資料の整理作業と、(B)その整理方法に関する一定の目論見があった。本年度の研究補助金では、所期の目的通り(A)の基礎資料の整理作業をほぼ完了し、併せて(B)に関する若干の試みを実施した。(A)1981年以来数次にわたって当該村落で収集した聞き取り資料は、(1)家族・親族関係の一般的理解(村人による)に関する諸情報、(2)個人および近親の生活史に関する諸情報に大別できる。(2)は、当該村落の現住者諸個人から数えて2〜3世代前にまで遡る系譜関係、彼らの出生・婚姻・死亡、移住・定着、農地・宅地の取得・相続・売買、近親間での生活共同など、主として個人を基軸に相互に連関する個別的情報からなる。(B)資料の整理方法に関する目論見とは、(1)相互に関連する(A)の(2)の個別情報をコンピュ-タの導入によって一括整理し、それら個別情報の体系的管理を行う。(2)整理された個別情報を用いて、(A)の(1)の村人による家族・親族関係の一般的理解を統計的手法によって検証する。本年度中に終了した作業は、上記(A)の基礎資料整理に関するものである。具体的には、(1)親族関係の系譜図の作成、(2)草分けとその子孫の農地・宅地の占有・相続・売買状況の整理、(3)主な草分け親族の生活史の記述的整理である。所期の目的(A)は達成されたが、コンピュ-タによる個別情報の一括管理とその利用(B)については、未だ資料の入力が不十分なため、明確な方向性を打ち出すには至っておらず、残された今後の課題である。
