本研究目的は、我が国に固有な教育の思惟・方法を再検討するという課題意識に立ち、茶道・華道などの伝統的芸道諸領域における実戦から「間」という教育的思惟の表出様相・実態を分析・検討することにある。このため、(1)現代の芸道師匠の教授の実態から「間」の具体相をビデオ撮影と師匠へのインタビュ-調査によって析出する。(2)文献的研究として、これまでに未収集(研究代表者が)の資料を出来得る限り収集し、「間」の文献的研究を行なう,という二点を本研究の計画としてきた。(1)に関しては、北播磨地方の宅稽古(師匠の自宅で少人数の稽古)のビデオ撮影と広島市の「文化教室」(正式名称を使用する許可は得られなかった)での師匠たちへのインタビュ-調査を実施した。しかし、師匠たちとの日程調製と機器購入後、入手までの時間と相まって、これらの調査が本年度末になったため、この調査の分析・検討は、現在進行中である。(2)に関しては、多大の収穫であった。その一例として、東北大学狩野文庫蔵の茶道関係史料、島根県立図書館の不昧流茶道関係史料、京都裏千家の今日庵文庫蔵の茶道関係史料など、主として茶道関係史料の収集が完遂できた。本研究の一つの柱である文献による「間」の分析には、大いなる意義があった。この成果は、「教育における間の考察(1)ー茶道を中心にー」(仮題)として、兵庫教育大学研究紀要第11巻(来年度)に掲載の予定である。今後の課題としては、ビデオ撮影とインタビュ-調査の早期の分析・検討は勿論であるが、予想に反して、現代の芸道に、あるいは師匠たちの教授や技芸には「間」の自覚的展開がほとんど見受けられなかった点を指摘できよう。形に留めにくい「間」を文献的研究のみでなく、消えゆく「わざ」の姿を何らかの方法で記録し、残り少ない「間」の実践者達を深く追い求めることが、本研究の大きな課題として残った。
