外側翼突筋下頭と顎二腹筋前腹が開口運動に果たす役割を明らかにすることを目的とし、顆頭部と切歯部の2点を測定点とした下顎運動と外側翼突筋下頭および顎二腹筋前腹の筋電図を同時記録し、両筋のonsetと下顎運動の関係を分析し以下の結果を得た。なお、開閉口運動は、習慣的な開閉口運動(Hーpath)、習慣的な開閉口路より前方を通る開閉口運動(Aーpath)、また後方引き付けを伴い習慣的な開閉口路より後方を通る蝶番運動に近い開閉口運動(pーpath)について行った。外側翼突筋下頭のouset時の顆頭部移動量は、(Hーpath)>(Pーpath)>(Rーpath)の順に小さいもののその間には、不意な差は認められなかった。また、外側翼突筋下頭のouset時の顆頭移動量の平均は、すべての運動路において0.7mm以内であった。外側翼突筋下頭のauset時の切歯部移動量は、(Pーpath)>(Hーpath)>(Aーpath)の順に小さく有意な差が認められた。顎二腹筋前腹のouset時の切歯部移動量は、(Aーpath)>(Hーpath)>(Pーpath)の順に小さく有意な差が認められた。以上の結果より、外側翼突筋下頭のousetは、開閉口運動の種類に影響されることなく、顆頭の移動量に密接な関係があることがわかった。また顎二腹筋前腹のousetは、開閉口運動の種類により影響され、とくに切歯部の後方への運動要素に密接な関係があった。

The above results show that the ouset of the lateral wing rib has a close relationship with the type of opening and closing movement. The ouset of the anterior flank of the jaw is closely related to the movement elements of the posterior flank of the jaw.
