项目摘要

平年2年度は、平成元年度に引き続き、宮島歴史民俗資料館に寄託されている、文化14年(1817)大蔵八右衛門虎光筆狂言台本(全16冊。狂言163曲所収。原本所在不明。略称「虎光本」)の転写本の翻刻と、その転写年代・筆者の追求に全力を傾けた。狂言研究の中で、大蔵八右衛門派の芸質研究が遅れているのは、同派のまとまった台本が公刊されていないことが原因であり、先に翻刻紹介した伊藤源之丞吉高筆狂言台本(全17冊。狂言170曲所収。略称「伊藤源之丞本」)に続き、大蔵八右衛門家の家元の手になる虎光本の全容を明らかにすることが狂言研究に益すること大であるとの判断から、全文翻刻を本研究の中心に据えたのである。転写本の筆者・成立年代に関しては、筆跡等から、芸州浅野藩のお抱え狂言師であった伊藤豊蔵治吉が、文政末から天保の中頃、江戸での狂言修業の際に虎光の許可を得て写したものであろうことを突き止めることができた。古狂言台本の中で、全く翻刻されていなかった大蔵八右衛門派の台本を二種公刊できたことは、今後の狂言の変遷史研究、作品研究等に多大の貢献をするものと期待できる。二種ともに筆者・成立年代、および資料的位置付けのなされていなかった新出資料である。私の研究のねらいは、既に発見公刊されている台本の他にも、まだ調査されず、また調査されていても流派・筆者・成立年代不明のままで埋れている狂言台本を資料的に位置づけ、有益なものを公刊して狂言研究者の共有財産としようということにある。このほかに本年度の収獲としては、宮島歴史民俗資料館寄託文書の中に、虎光本と対をなす虎光筆間狂言台本の転写本と思われるものがあることに気づいたことである。この方は、詳しい内容調査を経てからでないと断言できないが、ほぼ間違いなかろうと思う。今後も引き続き、未紹介の古狂言台本の発掘に全力を注いでいくつもりである。
