项目摘要

今日の日本を代表する作曲家武満徹の音楽と思想に関する体系的な研究を行なうべく、この作曲家に関する基本的な資料ーー楽譜、著書、レコード、CD、コンサートのプログラム、演奏会評等ーーの収集と整理を集中的に行なった。今回の資料収集で特に力点をおいたのは、武満の1960年代から1980年代にかけて世界各地で行なわれた創作・演奏の記録の収集と整理で、作曲家自身および出版社日本ショットの協力を得て作曲者自身の作品解説、音楽祭や演奏会のカタログやパンフレット、英・独・仏・伊・米語による新聞雑誌の批評をほとんど網羅的に収集できた。これらの資料を、約50冊のファイルに年代順に分類した。これらの基本的な資料の収集と整理によって、武満徹の音楽活動を、クロノロジカルに正確に展望することができるようになった。武満徹の音楽は、日本の伝統音楽とその美学思想に深く根ざしていると同時に、ドビュッシーからはじまる20世紀前半のヨーロッパ音楽、ケージにはじまる20世紀後半のアメリカ音楽から多くの影響を受けている。今回の研究では、武満の音楽作品を20世紀の世界の芸術音楽の諸潮流のなかにおき、その様式を分析することによって、武満の音楽様式が、ドビュッシー、シェーンベルク、メシアン、ケージの様式と思想から影響を受けていることを明らかにした。武満の音楽は、能や雅楽にみられる〈間〉や〈自然〉に基本をおきながら、欧米の作曲家の様式と思想に影響を受けつつも、独自のユニークな音楽的時間と音楽的空間を作りだしているのである。今回の基本的な資料の収集と整理と、20世紀音楽史のなかでの音楽様式の基礎的な分析の結論をふまえ、〈武満徹と20世紀音楽〉の著書にまとめるのが次の課題である。
