项目摘要

放牧草地の植物・家畜・土壌系におけるエネルギーの流れの数式モデルを作成する目的で、オーチャードグラスの草地とトールフェスクの草地で植物生産量、地下部量、枯死物量、放牧牛による採食量、体重増加量の季節的推移を年間にわたって追跡した。春2回と夏と秋各1回の輪換放牧をした牛群について、放牧牛の増体と、牛体蓄積エネルギーの草地投下光エネルギーに対する比(二次生産の光利用効率」を季節間で比較するとともに、その草種による違いを明らかにした。結果(1) 光エネルギー利用効率:二次生産における効率は、2年間の平均で、春季0.07〜0.08%、夏季・秋季は0.02〜0.03%であった。春季に比べて夏季と秋季に光利用効率が1/2以下に低下したことは、植物生産速度の季節変動の反映であると部分的には見なされるが、放牧牛の採食量は必ずしも減少しておらず、放牧牛のエネルギー代謝の季節変動、それによる増体の変動に起因していると考えられた。(2) 増体:1頭あたり1日あたり増体は、春季には1kg前後となり、夏季と秋季には春季の1/2以下となった。この季節変動は一部は採食量に依存しているが、その寄与率は大きくない(R^2=0.18)。むしろ供給される牧草の消化率とそれ以上に放牧牛の生産効率(NEg/DE、消化エネルギーが増体として蓄積される効率)が増体の変動と高い相関を示した。生産効率は、牧草の消化率とも関連する牧草の質的因子(消化率以外の)に影響を受けていることと、動物側の因子、すなわち放牧牛の採食行動、エネルギー消費とも関係していることが示唆された。
