1.大名貸商人史料の調査・収集調査対象は,第1,酒田本間家の大名貸関係史料のうち,とくに,酒田市立図書館,酒田市史論さん室収集史料,本間分家(本間恒輔氏)文書,第2,鶴岡市郷土資料館所蔵の酒田鐙屋家の大名貸史料,第3,新潟県下関の渡辺家の大名貸史料,である。第2,3は,主として米沢藩関係のもの,上記関係史料を写真およびコピ-化し収集した。2.藩財政関係史料の調査・収集当該史料の調査は,主として米沢藩,新庄藩について行った。米沢藩関係のものは,比較的まとまったものもあるが,今回は,近年米沢市立図書館が収集した上級家屋,勘定方役人の史料を調査し,新庄藩については,広く藩政関係の史料と合わせて,調査,収集した。蔵老商人の研究は,藩政改革の動向と関連し,構造的に研究すべきであるという方法に基づいている。3.研究報告上記調査・研究の一部を,とくに酒田本間家と新庄藩の財政改革との関係について論文としてまとめ報告した。近世中期以後,急速に発展した本間家は,酒田間屋商人の最上位にあり,庄内藩,米沢藩および新庄藩などの,近世中,後期の藩政改革,財政改革に積極的に参画ししている。本論文は,これまでほとんど実証的に研究されたことのない,新庄藩の寛政〜文化期の財政と本間家の大名貸の構造、その歴史的意義を明らかにしたものである。
