项目摘要

アメリカ・レフトウィング運動とロシア十月革命との関係を示す、或いは前者自体の博士論文10点を購入し、すべてに目を通し、数点は精読した。その中で特にJ・スティパノヴィチの南スラブ系移民労働者運動の研究(1900ー18年)が、従来からのいわゆるコンセンサス史観の克服をめざした、換言すれば、アメリカ社会主義運動の移民労働者も取込んで捉えようとする先駆的研究であることを確かめえた。その新たな視点は、ロシア十月革命直後のレフトウィング運動を「外」からの移入ではなく、よりアメリカの脈絡に沿っての運動であったと捉える私の仮説を補強しうると考える。関係洋書も16冊購入したが、殆どは当該テ-マに関する最新の文献目録と人名辞典で、早速該当するものだけの検索は済ませた。そして新たに収集する必要の出てきた文献のうちいくつかは、東京に出張し、関係図書館で当時の社会主義並びに共産主義文献の検索・複写を果たすついでにコピ-入手に努め、残りは新たに発注し、目下引き続き収集中である。今回の主研究である『米国司法省調査ファイル:アメリカ共産堂』28リ-ルの分析は、当初出版社の違約によるガイド・ブック未着のため遅れた。現物が国立公文書館の生史料のマイクロフィルム化であるためガイドなしの検索作業は捗らず、ようやく2月初めに届いたガイド・ブックをもとに目下精力的にその検索並びに複写を行い、同時に分析も進めている最中である。政府関係史料であるために細心の注意を必要とするものでそれはあるのだが、公刊史料・文献では知りえないレフトウィング運動・組織などについての豊富なデ-たが集められつつある。主研究は予定より約半年次年度にずれ込みそうだが、目下4割方原稿作成済みの論文(シリ-ズ論文第V篇)の中に本研究成果を組み入れて本年9月中に完成、投稿し、明年3月に公表する予定である。
