多島海域が文化の流動に果す役割は大きい。併し、シナ海北辺についてはこの視点が〓けていた。それで第一着目として石器の比較研究を実施したが、今回は漁撈関係資料に中心を置いた。研究は該当地域の資料集積施設(博物館・文化戝收蔵庫の類)と主要遺跡を探訪し、一定の所見を得て今後の研究を足掛りを得ることを当面の目標とした。その所を整理すると次のようである。1.資料の集積度の地域差が大きい。即ち南西諸島方面・朝鮮海峡方面は資料が密であり、九州西岸特に五島方面は著しく疏である。2.縄文後晩期から弥生相当期にかけて、南西諸島北部と朝鮮海峡方面は、石器全体の組成と形に断絶と云える程の大きい隔りがある。3.併し狩捕・漁撈、特に後者に関するものは、(1)機能を同じくするものが両地域に別々に存在するものと、(2)相互に影響し合ったものとが認められる。上記2.の原因は縄文後晩期の両者が文化圏を構成していたことに起因し、弥生相等期では南西諸島がその強い影響下に在りながら遂に生産経済に進入できなかった社会的落差によるのであろう。3.2(1)の具体例では突起磨研のスイジガイと両角石器、貝錘と土錘などが挙がるし、(2)では南下した石鏃・太形蛤刃石斧、北上した鴨嘴形石斧・両端刃石斧などが顕著である。南下したものに骨・貝製のジゴクバリがあることは注目に値する。以上、北上現象は南海産貝類の交易に当てることができるが、南下現象は何に依るものか。ジゴクバリの様態などから水上生活民の動向に注目する必要があろう。これらの現象は、南北の対北ではなくて、地域的に連続した観察によってより正確に且つ実証的に攷究しうるものであろうから、上記1の〓陥是正が切望される。
