Technical assessment of organic rice culture

那些担心食品和生态系统恶化的人对有机水稻栽培（ORC）有着浓厚的兴趣。为了从作物科学的角度评价ORC， 1991 - 1993年进行了田间试验。试验区ORC的生产能力显著低于对照区。施化肥的地块与对照地块产量相等。病虫害对非农药地块造成的危害非常轻微，但需要注意的是病虫害的发生每年变化很大。在未施用除草剂的地块上，由于杂草减少了穗数，导致产量严重下降。因此，要实现ORC的高产稳定，不仅需要向田间投入有机质，还需要化肥和农药的补充施用。

The organic rice culture (ORC) is watched with keen interest by those who fear deteriorations in foods and ecosystems. To assess the ORC from the view point of crop science, the field experiments were conducted from 1991 to 1993.The yielding ability of the ORC in the experimental plots was significantly lower than that of the control plot. The yields of plots supplemented with chemical fertilizer were equal to that of the control plot. The damage caused by pest and disease in the non-pesticide plots was remarkably slight, but it should be noted that the occurrence of pest and disease varies considerably from year to year. The yield was seriously decreased by weed in the plots to which no herbicide was applied, due to the decrease in the number of panicles. It is suggested that not only input of organic matter to the field but also supplementary applications of chemical fertilizer and pesticide are necessary for high and stable production of ORC.
