本研究の目的は、自分の身体に対する自己評価をさせ、あわせて脂肪量を実測することによって、自己評価と現実との差異を明らかにしていくことである。研究対象としては、東京及びその周辺のテニススク-ルに参加している中高年男女を選び、合計84人のデ-タを収集した。肥痩の自己評価は質問紙法によって行うと同時に、脂肪量の実測を体脂肪率計測器(栄研式キャリパ-など)を用いて行い、数値は直ちにフィ-ドバックした。肥痩自己評価(5段階:痩せている、どちらかといえば痩せている、普通、どちらかといえば肥っている、肥っている)と体脂肪率との間の相関を男女別に調べてみたところ、男女ともこの両者の間には正の相関があることが示され、対象者全体としてみると、自己評価には信頼性があると考えられたが、個人別にみると回帰直線から大きくはずれた値を示すものも多く、全員が正しい評価をしているとはいえない、ということが明らかになった。その原因については、現在検討中である。なお、実際に調査・測定を行っていく際には、不正確な判定をしたものに対しては、得られた体脂肪率をもとに、正しい肥痩度というものを認識させ、「余分な脂肪を減少させる」という、健康的に減量するためのアドバイスを行った。今回は、この脂肪量の測定に加え、膝関節の伸展力の測定、障害の調査等も実施し、この年代の体力を総合的に判定することも、試みているところである。このように、多角的にデ-タを収集することは、測定評価の分野の研究を運動生理学やスポ-ツ医学につなげるという意味でも、重要であると思われる。
