本研究は,ソマティクス(somatics)理論の実践への適用を明確にすると共に,その教育のあり方,すなわちソマティック・エジュケ-ション(somatic education)の理論化モデルを作成することによって,その専門性の教育と実践カリキュラムの開発について考慮することを目的とした。本研究の目的に従って,ソマティクス理論をボディ-マインド・センタ-リングを鍵概念とする,1)身体意識,2)動作意識,3)身体療法,4)運動療法の4つの枠組みから分析・検討し,その特徴を整理した。また,その実践への適用を明確にするため,特に身体療法と運動療法に焦点を合わせ,その実践的研究と指導の現状を調査し,臨床的技術と学術的研究との有機的な関わりについて検討した。これらの成果を踏まえて,ソマティック・エジュケ-ションの理論化モデルを,1)身体運動の特徴(nature),2)身体学の理論(theory),3)身体概念(concept),4)動作意識の観察(observation)と記述(description),5)カリキュラム・デザイン(designing)を枠組みとして詳細な分析を行ない,教育機関における実践的適用の可能性について検討した。さらに,その理論化モデルを基に,ソマティック・エジュケ-ションに関わる専門性の教育のあり方及び実践カリキュラムの開発を,特に理論と実践の統合化の視点から考察した。以上より,上記の理論化モデル試案は,人間の身体性と統合的経験としての身体運動をア-トとサイエンスの関われから捉え,「内側から捉えられる身体の科学」を追求することによって,体育学の基本的性格(identity)に関わる新たなパラダイムを再構成するための本格的な議論の土台を構築するものとして有効であろう。今後の課題として,ソマティクス理論を従来の「科学論」や「学問論」を越えて,教育の枠組みにおける「カリキュラム論」として展開し直すことによって,体育学におけるカリキュラム・モデルの開発とその標準化についての研究の必要性が指摘されるであろう。
