平成2年8月に本研究者らが実施した「本学卒業生の意識及び動態に関する調査」で未分析となっていた職業に関する回答を資料として用いた。原調査は,生存し住所の判明している前身を含めての本学の全卒業生を対象とした郵送による質問紙調査であり,回収率は53.4%(7441人)であった。本研究では職歴を検討するため,昭和59年以前の卒業生のうち4001人を対象とした。勤務年数,職業数,職場数,7回目までの職業勤務地,勤務年数および職歴をパ-ソナルコンピュ-タ-に入力し分析した。自由記述の職歴はカテゴリ-化した。最年勤務年数は52年,最多職業数は5,1回目の職業は多い順に中学校教師24.8%,高校教師21.0%,民間企業事務職11.9%であるが,昭和21年3月までの私立東京女子体操音楽学校の卒業生は88.5%が高等女学校教師であり,時代により相違がある。1回目の勤務地は全体では,全都道府県と旧日本領中国,朝鮮に分布している。職歴は、転職の有無,現在あるいは定年位まで継続したか,中断があったか,卒業後すぐ就職したかの4観点から16のタイプに分類した。全体では多い順に「一職業継続型」25.2%,「一職業中途退職型」25.2%,「転職継続型」17.9%「転職中途退職型)11%,「転職一時中断継続型」6.7%であり他の型は少数であった。43.1%の者が卒業後職業を持ち続けていることになる。1回目の職業別に見ると,「一職業継続型」の割合が高い順に,中学校教師36%,小学校教師33%,大学教師,高校教師32.4%であり,低い順には,幼稚園教師6.9%,公的施設体育指導員8.6%,研究所勤務9.1%,水泳指導員10.7%である。主として体育教師として日本全国で活躍している卒業生の職歴を明らかにすることができた。職歴には本人の努力以外の力の関与がある。
