项目摘要

This project aims at studying key technologies for future high quality image transmission system. The main subjects dealt in this project are as follows ;(1)To obtain Objective Picture Quality Scale which can evaluate picture quality without subjective test.(2)To obtain best color space which could be used for image coding.(3)To study structured media description method by which image can be edited and retrieved easily.(4)To study coding technology for high quality image transmission.(5)To study multimedia system design.Each subject is studied under the cooperative work by Japanese University and University in United States. Discussion is held during International Conferences and meetings in this project. Research on coding technology is closely related with international standardization activity called MPEG. Research on multimedia system is held by exchanging software between Japan and United States. Some papers are published coauthored by Japanese and United States University.Because of this projects, future image transmission system can be developed by cooperative work of Japan and United States.

本项目旨在研究未来高质量图像传输系统的关键技术。本课题的主要研究内容如下：（1）获得客观图像质量量表，该量表可以在不进行主观测试的情况下对图像质量进行评价。(2)To得到可用于图像编码的最佳颜色空间。(3)To研究结构化媒体描述方法，使图像易于编辑和检索。(4)To研究高质量图像传输的编码技术。(5)To学习多媒体系统设计，各学科均由日本大学和美国大学合作研究。在该项目的国际会议和会议期间进行讨论。编码技术的研究与国际标准化活动MPEG密切相关。多媒体系统的研究是通过日本和美国之间的软件交换进行的。日本和美国大学合作发表了一些论文。由于这些项目，未来的图像传输系统可以通过日本和美国的合作开发。
