IGBP had started internationally in 1990 as a ten-year project. The Gakujutsu-shingikai in the Ministry of Education, Science Sports and Culture made a proposal "On promotion of IGBP at universities etc." Then, IGBP-MESC research activities officially started in 1992 JFY.The Japanese IGBP are mainly concerned with regions of the Asian Monsoon, the Western Pacific, and Polar areas. This report is a review of the international cope with IGBP implementation in university.
