项目摘要

1.目的:近年の健康ブームとともに、「健康」の維持増進を目的としたいわゆる「健康食品」市場の伸びが著しい。本研究では、以下の方法をもちいて現代人の健康観を探るため「健康食品」の広告の分析をおこなった。2.対象と方法:「健康食品」を製造する524社を対象に調査協力依頼を送付し、うち107社から166の製品について資料を得ることができた。資料から、製品を主成分、製法から分類し、それぞれでうたわれている効能や広告の表現・キャッチフレーズ・キイワードを分析した。以下、結果と考察を簡略に記す。3.結果:1)「健康食品」は主原料によって次のように分類された。微生物、小動物、植物の果実・胚芽・小植物、調味料、野菜、栄養素・生体物質、漢方薬、蜂蜜類。2)キーワードから抽出されたイメージはおおまかに次のようである。1)生命力、2)天然・自然、3)伝統文明、4)長時間、5)秘密。4.「健康食品」が提示する健康理論は科学的理論で補強する一方で、呪術的類推を中心として構成されている。呪術的類推とは、たとえば「活力あるあしたばを食べるとあしたばのように元気になります」というように、そのものを摂取することでそのものと同じ属性を獲得できるという考え方である。このような「健康食品」は、「健康」になるための手段を決定するのも自分、その手段に没入するのも自分、自分自身を対象化して「健康」かどうか判断するのも自分という自己解釈の環にわれわれを導く。それこそが現代の「健康主義」(ヘルシズム)にほかならない。
