1.骨格標本作製用魚類の収集(1)魚類学者からの提供あるいは購入により、32種を収集した。2.骨格標本の作製(1)収集した魚類は、すべて魚類学者により同定が行われた。(2)大型の魚類は乾燥標本を作製し、小型の魚類は水酸化カリウムによる透明標本作製法を用い、液浸標本を作製した。3.骨格部位の描画、レントゲン写真の撮影(1)筆者作製の動物依存体データベースにより、遺跡報告書で多く同定される部位を調べ、さらに最近の新データ等の追加、補足を行なった。(2)システム実体顕微鏡により16種を描画したが、マアジはすでに骨格図を発表した論文があるので、それを活用した。(3)ホシザメ、アカエイは、種の特徴をとらえるため、椎体のレントゲン写真を撮影した。(4)骨格の観察により、従来報告されていた部位以外にも同定可能な部位があることが明らかにできたが、近縁種間の比較研究については個体数の関係等で、追求するには至らなかった。4.画像データベースの作成準備(1)すでに描画した骨格図をスキャナーで取り込み(Mac.使用)、画像データベースの基礎データを作成した。
