1993年1月からEC市場統合がスタートしているが、EC諸国は実際には、それ以前から始まった不況を脱しきれずにいる。本研究の最終的な目的は、この市場統合による輸出入構造の変化が、EC諸国の生産や雇用に与える潜在的な効果を推定することにある。そのためにまず、EC諸国間の最新の産業連関構造を明らかにする必要があった。EC諸国を含めた多国間産業連関表が平成5年度に通産省から公表されたので、これを用いて、日本及びアメリカとの関連でEC3国(ドイツ、フランス、イギリス)の輸出入による生産連関構造の分析をおこない公表した。最終需要の生産誘発効果やユニット・ストラクチュア分析などによって、アメリカへの依存の方が大きい産業もあるものの、全体としてはEC諸国間の緊密な中間財依存構造がみられることが明らかにされた。続いて、統一的フォーマットとして公表されているものとしては最新の1985年産業連関表を用いて、1975年〜1985年の接続分析をおこない、EC諸国の連関がどのように推移してきているかを分析した。この分析は特にEC域内からの輸入マトリックスを用い、域内への依存構造の推移を明らかにした点に特徴をもっている。さらに、市場統合の潜在効果を推計するための産業連関表として、EC7カ国(ドイツ、フランス、イギリス、イタリア、オランダ、デンマーク、アイルランド)をリンクした1985年国際産業連関表を試作し、付加価値税の接近化に関する若干の分析をおこなった。ベルギー表の公表が遅れているため含まれていない点、輸入がCIF価格評価にとどまり生産者価格評価ではない点など、未だいくつかの問題を抱えているが。これらの改善をおこなった上で再度いくつかのシミュレーション分析をし、公表する予定である。
