项目摘要

アイヌ頭蓋115個体における主要12項目の計測値による分析による地域間変異パターンと、側頭筋の発達度を表すと思われる側頭窩の計測値との関係を調べ、アイヌ頭蓋変異の適応的意義について考察考察を行なった。東京大学総合研究資料館医学部門所蔵の小金井アイヌコレクションと、京都大学所蔵の清野樺太アイヌコレクション、札幌医大所蔵の近世アイヌコレクションから、頭蓋主要計測値と側頭窩の計測値を採集した。主要計測値による頭蓋変異パターンは、民族考古学的にいわれている地域群に良く対応することがわかった。すなわち脊稜山脈によって区分される地域圏(日高、十勝など)がナワバリ関係や婚姻関係における集団としての単位となっていることがアイヌ頭蓋形態による地域内・地域間の変異の分析によっても支持される。地域内変異に対する地域間変異の大きさはこの地域分類において有意に大きく、縄文時代人集団、現代日本人集団の地域変異の大きさと比較してもその地理的分布範囲を考慮するとアイヌ頭蓋形態に基づく集団間の変異はかなり大きいと考えられる。主成分分析の結果から、この地域変異は主に顔面頭蓋の形態の違いによるものであり、とくにオホーツク分化の影響を受けた地域では顔面頭蓋が大きいという傾向がある。これら頭蓋計測値による地域変異とその他の形質との関係は現在解析を行なっている段階であり、まだ結果は出ていない。側頭窩の計測値を側頭筋の発達程度をあらわすものと仮定し、側頭窩の発達程度に地域差が見られるかどうか、また、主要計測値による地域変異との関係を調べることによって、アイヌ頭蓋形態変異の意味を側頭筋の発達程度といった観点から考察を与えられると思われる。
