本研究では、以下の2項目について研究を行った。(1)港湾施設における釣り人、散歩者の利用実態及び利用特性を、現地調査とアンケート調査により明らかにする。(2)釣り、磯遊び、バ-ドウオッチング等のレクリエーション利用者の観点から、海岸のレクリエーション資源としての生物の分布と地形特性等との関連性を把握する。本年度で明らかとなったことを、以下に述べる。河原子港におけるレクリエーション利用者の行動観察調査によると、先端に灯台、外洋・港内側にテトラポットが配置され、天端幅が5〜6mと広い東防波堤では、散歩者の導線が集中している。一方、南防波堤では、外洋側に眺望を求める利用者が多い。川尻港と河原子港における利用者の行動観察調査およびヒアリング調査によって、9パターンの港湾景観タイプが抽出され、特異な港湾景観タイプとして、港湾の内側および外側からの眺めによる対峙型、防波堤間に構造物が配置された対峙型の3パターンが明らかとなった。日立海岸の岩礁域は、茨城県の岩礁の50%を占め、多くの動植物を観察することができる。磯の生物の観察調査によると、消波ブロックや防波堤等の垂直護岸に付く海藻や魚介類は、波の当たり方によって違いが生じることが確認された。また、日立海岸でみられる野鳥は、186種とされている。どのような場所で観察されているのかを、現地調査とヒアリング調査によって調べた結果、砂丘では、波打ち際の湿った場所、岩礁では、海崖前面の離れ岩や離れ島、そして離岸堤や港湾に多く観察できた。重要なことは、種によって観察できる場所がほとんど決まっていることであり、砂丘や湾岸といった人間活動の場と重なりあっていることである。利用者の行動や生物の生息域を考慮することが、これからの海岸整備に強く求められることである。
