A Study on Environmental Transition and Comfortable Environment for Elderly People

环境的急剧变化所引起的环境变迁可能导致老年人人-环境系统的崩溃。例如，老人从居住多年的家搬迁到其他陌生地区或居住机构，或城市更新等，本研究旨在从环境心理学的角度阐明为面临环境变迁的老人提供支持和为他们规划适宜环境的基本条件。本研究共分四个主题。具体如下：1.老年人的环境变迁与地域社会依恋地域社会依恋被认为是老年人环境情感的重要因素。其形成可能与他们在区域社会中的交往和活动有关.都市更新与老年人：一种民族志的方法本研究在广岛县的丹原町进行了田野调查，这是一个面临都市更新的地区。对于老年人的日常生活而言，小尺度的设计如步行区的环境条件、邻里的社会交往等都是非常重要的.本研究旨在探讨盲人老人对新环境的再认知与再组织过程。随着时间的推移，盲人移民的认知地图由路径地图向测量地图转变。养老院环境变迁的研究对于养老院的老年人来说，养老院空间的个性化是适应新环境的重要过程。私人空间和公共空间的适当布局在个性化过程中起着非常重要的作用。

Environmental transition caused by drastic change of environment may cause collapse of man-environment systems for elderly people. For example, relocation from home where the elderly have lived for many years to other strange region or to dwelling institution, or urban renewal and so on. This study aims to clarify basic conditions form a view of environmental psychology for supporting for the elderly people who face environmental transition and those for planning conformable environment for them. This study consists of 4 sub themes. Those are follows :1. Environmental transition and attachment to regional society of elderly peopleAttachment to regional society is thought of important element for the elderly's emotion to environment. Formation of it may be related to their communications and activities in the regional society.2. Urban renewal and the elderly : An ethnographic approachIn this study fieldwork has done in Danbara-Cho in Hiroshima-Ken district is an area faced to urban renewal. For the elderly's daily life, small scale designs for such as environmental conditions in walking area and social contact in neighborhood, are very important.3. Study on relocation of a nursing home for blind older adultsThis study aims to clarify the process of re-cognition and re-organization of new environment for the blind elderly. As time passed, the cognitive map of the blind relocatees had changed from route-map to survey-map.4. Studies on environmental transition of elderly relocatees to nursing homeFor the elderly relocatees to dwelling institution, personalization of space in the institution is important process for adaptation to new environment. Private room and appropriate layout of common spaces play very important role in the personalization process.
