The recent progresses on combustion researches in porous media have brought about effective utilization of energy as well as remarkable reduction of exhaust pollutants. However, these studies have all been more or less limited to the homogeneous premixture combustion of gaseous fuel. In this study liquid droplets combustion is developed to investigate detaild combustion processes such as heat transfer mechanism, evaporation, diffusion and subsequent combustion.In first year experimental and theoretical researches have been executed to extend a flammable limit of extraordinary lean mixture and to mitigate the energy input for self-sustain combustion in the porous system of reciprocating flow regime.In second fiscal year standardized basic experimental work has been conducted in O-ita University on the diffusion combustion prior to the other related researches through the world. In consequence, some important prominent features have been elucidated the effects of porous body on the extremely low NO_x emission and also on the combustion enhancement for low quality combustible materials.In last fiscal year a new concept has been proposed to realize the constant temperature expansion combustion in reciprocating engines and/or gas turbines which results in higher energy conversion ratio to mechanical power and extended discussions on the thermodynamic cycle.
