The findings of our longitudinal research investigations in a aging community, Enosima (Miyagi Prefecture) are as follows.1. After the World War II, numbers of population and household have been decreasing, and the community has become aging after 1985. (1)As a result of this change, the activities of Enosima fishery are reduced, and the people of the older age had to adjust the new situation of the old age without retirement, which people in Enosima has never experienced. (2)The task of the old age socialization in Enoshima is to integrate thier own family life in the community and the family life of their younger generation outside of the community.2. The aging of Enosima community has been brought about by the outmiguration of adolescents from the community through going on to high schools. The socialization channels from adolescence to adulthood in this community has changed from the community-oriented channel to the more general, outside-community-oriented one. This means that sosialization system has changed from traditional community oriented education system to modern, shcool-oriented one.3. The change of community socialization system has been caused by the intergenerational interaction of adolescents, the yoouger generation and the adults, the older generation at that time. The emergence of the new situation of old age socialization of the community is one of the results of the change of the community socialization system.4. The people of the older generation in the community have anticipated the change of their old age socialization when they, as parents, have socialized their children, and they have prepared the new houses outside of the community.
