项目摘要

明恵上人関係の法談聞書類について、高山寺、東大寺、隋心院を中心とする各所蔵機関の古写本を実地調査して、写真撮影を実施し、従前の研究を進展させることができた。その成果の一部は第70回訓点語学会研究発表会(於東京大学)口頭発表し、その後の調査の成果を大幅に加えて訓点語学会機関誌「訓点語と訓点資料」第95輯(平成7年3月31日発行)に論文として掲載した。明恵上人関係の法談聞書類の特色は、編者の編集意識によって資料の内部構造に大きな相違がある点である。各資料の内部構造と、編者の関係、成立年代を検討した結果、華厳仏光観聞書、光言句義釈聴集記、華厳信種義聞集記、解脱門義聴集記、起信論本疏聴集記、起信論本疏聴集記、五教章類集記(原態本)、五教章類集記(改編本)の順で、編集が周密になっており、解脱門義聴集記までは順性房高信が編集し、起信論本疏聴集記以降は、弟子の十恵房順高の編集にかかるものであって、これは「喜海→高信→順高→弁深・・・」という高山寺内の限られた学統の中で行われた結果であることが判明した。又、上記以外の学僧は、典籍の注釈的な講説活動を行った形跡が認めがたく、主に諸尊法の伝授活動を行っていた。明恵の言説は、講説聞書と伝授聞書との二様の形式で筆録されたわけだが、いわゆる口語的徴証、鎌倉時代の新語、平安時代の和文特有語の受容、メタ言語の言い回しへの声点の付加、卑近な説話の利用等といった諸点は、講説聞書に専ら認められ、伝授聞書には殆ど認められないことが判明した。これは、講説聞書と伝授聞書との目的が大きく異なることが、聴聞僧の筆録意識に反映した結果と推定される。
