史料調査に必要な基本的な撮影機材(カメラ・レンズ・三脚等)の整備を進めるとともに、東京方面では東京大学史料編纂所・内閣文庫、福岡方面では福岡県立図書館・福岡県地域史研究所、山口方面では山口県文書館・毛利博物館に出張し、戦国期および豊臣期関係の史料の写真撮影、影写本・謄写本・写真帳の閲覧、マイクロリーダーによる影写本複写等の方法で史料収集を行なった。収集した史料については、翻刻作業を進めるとともに、データベースソフトを利用して地域別および編年別の整理に着手した。今年度に進めた研究内容としては、筑前国に対する豊臣政権の支配強化の過程を、主として地域の視座から一国規模で考察した最近の成果をふまえ、地域の独自性をより明確にするために、一郡規模での検討を試みた。具体的には、古代より幅広い信仰をあつめる宗像社の鎮座する筑前国宗像郡を素材とし、大内市滅亡後の北部九州において領主的発展を遂げた大宮司宗像氏貞が没した後の宗像郡の状況について、特に宗像社および宗像社領を中心に、その史的展開を明らかにした。その結果、豊臣期、宗像郡には豊臣政権の支配が深く浸透して行き、宗像社においても社家衆の衰退や社領の減少・消失が進むなか、社領の直接支配という中世的な社領経営から領国主による年貢米給付という近世的な財政運営の形態に移行したことを明らかにした。今後は、収集した史料をもとに、中国地方に北部九州地方を研究対象とし、豊臣政権下の大名権力(毛利氏・小早川氏)の領国支配や村落社会の実態について、太閤検地の実施や近世的石高の成立、さらにはそれらと知行制・軍役・年貢収納の関係について解明して行く予定である。
