本研究は、問題解決学習の社会科授業において習得される「知識の構造」に着目し、その「知識の構造」の中において、いかなる知識が「基礎的・基本的な知識」としての位置を占めているのかを構造的・実証的に明らかにすることを目的としたものである。あるひとつの「知識」については、それが「基礎的・基本的な知識」であるか、それとも「応用的・発展的な知識」であるかといったような形で、絶対的な性格付けを行うことはできない。しかしながら、ひとつの「知識」というものは分離不能なパ-ツから構成されているものではなくて、それ自身の中に「階層構造」を有し、さらに別の知識と「相互関連」し合って成立しているものであるということができる。したがって、ひとつの「知識」はそれ自身の中に、より基礎的・基本的な要素を孕み、あるいは、他の知識の成立にとっての基礎的・基本的な要素となり、また、他の知識を前提にして成立しているということなどの点に鑑みれば、相対的な意味においては、「基礎的・基本的な知識」というものが措定されうると考えられる。本研究においては、いくつかの社会科授業を記録し、分析することによって、上述のような「基礎的・基本的な知識」のあり方を、子どもの発語(会話、作文等)から抽出される言語の構造として図式化することを試みた。本研究の成果を以て、ただちに普遍的な「基礎的・基本的な知識」の構造形態として、結論づけることはできないが、本研究で採用されているアプローチとその方向性を、今後の社会科授業研究においてさらに精緻に作り上げていくことによって、「知識の構造形態」を実証的に明らかにしていくことを今後の課題としている。
