项目摘要

本年度は、まず「荊湖地方における岳飛の軍費調達」において、湖北(湖広)会子が発行される以前の荊湖地方の状況を検討した。その結果、(1)南宋政権の荊湖統治は軍閥岳飛の駐屯に始まること、(2)岳飛は、鄂州(現在の武漢)に置かれた湖広総領からの租税銭物の供給と同時に、独自の商業活動によって巨額の財源を形成していたこと、(3)岳飛失脚後、南宋政権は、商業活動を抑制し租税銭物によって兵糧を供給するシステムを取ったこと(4)その結果、20年後には兵糧供給が滞り、中央からの補助に頼るようになったこと、(5)この補給手段として、湖北会子が発行されるようになったことを明らかにした。次に東京大学史学会において、「湖北会子の発行」という題目で研究発表を行った。その中で私は、湖北会子は荊湖地方に駐屯する大軍の給料用に発行されたとする通説を再検討した。そして、(1)湖北会子の用途は給料だけに限定されず、前線である襄陽方面において和糴に利用され、それによって湖広総領所は、鄂州から襄陽方面に、商人を利用して兵糧を送っていたこと、(2)鄂州を中心とする流通網が形成されつつあったことにより、それが可能となったこと、(3)この流通網は、南宋初期に鄂州に駐屯した岳飛軍の時代から始まったことを論じ、(4)湖北会子の鄂州兌換の先例として、岳飛時代に見銭関子という手形が鄂州で兌換されたことを発見し、(5)行在会子と湖北会子は、ほぼ同時期に発行が開始されたが、それぞれの元となった流通網が異なることから、わざわざ別の会子を発行したと論じた。この内容については現在論文にするべく準備中である。
