A Study on Elderly People's understanding of TV News

采用个案研究的方法，于1997年冬至夏，对日本北部地区1998.33名65-90岁的老年人进行了电视新闻收视行为访谈，并将访谈场面录制下来。结果表明：(1)由于听力下降，老年人倾向于不喜欢声音较大的女新闻播音员。(2)由于听力下降，老年人倾向于将播音员的即兴讲话识别为一种噪音。(3)由于听力下降，老年人不喜欢新闻播音员快速说话。(4)由于视觉能力下降，老年人倾向于将播音员即兴讲话识别为一种噪音。(3)由于听力下降，老年人不喜欢新闻播音员快速说话。(4)由于视觉能力下降，老年人倾向于将播音员的即兴讲话视为一种噪音。(4)由于视觉能力下降，老年人倾向于将播音员的即兴讲话识别为一种噪音。(3)由于听力下降，老年人不喜欢新闻播音员快速说话。(4)由于视觉能力下降，老年人倾向于将播音员的即兴讲话识别为一种噪音。老年人使用图表和地图，以便于理解嘈杂的电视新闻。(5)由于视觉能力下降，老年人在电视屏幕上切换剪辑和文字太多。(6)老年人很可能拒绝凶杀事件等新闻话题。(7)独居老年人将综艺节目和电视剧的信息视为生活社会的重要新闻。

Surveys were conducted by case-study approach from winter in 1997 to summer in 1998.33 elderly people aged 65-90 mostly living in northern part of Japan were interviewed on TV news viewing behavior and their interview scenes were recorded on videotapes.Results were as follows :(1) Because of declining auditory ability, the elderly tend to dislike female newscaster with high voice.(2) Because of declining auditory ability, elderly people tend to recognize caster's adlib as a kind of noise.(3) Because of declining auditory ability, the elderly dislike newscasters speaking rapidly.(4) Because of declining visual ability, the elderly takes graphs and maps used to facilitate comprehension of TV news noisy.(5) Because of declining visual ability, the elderly takes too much switching cuts and words on TV screen.(6) The elderly likely rejects news topics such as homicide incidents.(7) The elderly living alone takes information on variety programs and drama as important news in living society.
