[研究実績の概要]熱帯はじめ世界各地域における、医学的諸問題に関する十分な情報を恒常的に集積できる機能を持ち、それらの情報を使い易く整理、分析し、各方面の研究者や関係者が容易にアクセスできる、総合的地域疾患情報システムの設置を目指すことを目的とする。討議と企画調査の内容は以下のごとくである。1.検討事項:(1)情報システムの概要(ハードとソフト)、(2)想定される利用者、(3)情報内容:i)各国の一般事情、ii)地域の疾病の種類と分布、iii)各国の医療事情:保健医療およびその政策、外国からの保健医療関係援助の実情、(4)情報の質、量、範囲、(5)情報収集(方法、対象機関:国内、国外)、(6)情報集積・アクセスシステム:i)方法として報告書、コンピュータシステム、データーバンク、シンクタンクなど、ii)既存設備や既存情報の利用、iii)アクセスの機能内容、(7)人手,設備,予算等、(8)具体的成果の予測。2.作業事項:(1)システム全体の企画、(2)国内外図書館、情報センター等の情報収集方法の調査と検討、(3)関連諸機関の医学情報に関する資料・文献のリストアップと整理:国内(文部省、厚生省、外務省、およびそれらの関連機関、諸学会、民間諸団体、図書館など、国外(各研究機関、WHO、諸学会、民間団体など、(4)熱帯諸国の現地における医学的諸問題に関する情報を、恒常的に集積する試験的方法、(5)整理された情報に容易にアクセスできる試験的方法の確立。本企画の最大の特徴とするべき点は、1.世界各地域で現在、現地活動を行っている研究者あるいは医療関係者、そして現地活動の豊富な経験と実績を持つ研究者と医療関係者から直接生の情報を収集すること、2.それらの情報を処理技術の専門家により実用に供され地域研究のノウハウを有効に生かされる、などである。本研究をさらに拡充し発展させることを強く要望された。
