中国隋代に三論教学を大成した嘉祥大師吉蔵(549-623)には、『法華玄論』『法華義疏』『法華統略』『法華遊意』『法華論疏』の5部の法華関係注釈書がある。これら法華関係注釈書の著述量は、彼の著作全体から見ても大きな割合いを占める。しかし、それらに対する文献学的研究は立ち遅れているのが現状であった。そこで吉蔵の法華経注釈書の定本作成を目的に研究申請した私どもは、今年度次のような研究を行なった。定本作成にあたり、私どもは時代の趨勢を鑑み、これまで活字化されていた吉蔵の法華経注釈書すべて(主として大正蔵経所収の文献)をOCRによってコンピュタ-入力することを企図した。その結果、学内の研究者や多数の大学院生の協力を得て、大部分その作業を終えることができた。これによって、「研究目的」に記した校訂本(定本)のCD-ROM化のための基盤は整えられたといえる。ただ、入力した原文に厳密な校訂を施した定本作成の作業までは終了するに至らなかった。東大寺図書館をはじめ各仏教系大学図書館より校訂に必要な写本や刊本はすでに入手してあるので、今後は精力的に校訂作業を継続する予定である。今年度のわれわれの研究により、博引旁証をもって知られる吉蔵の著作研究において、研究者はその引用経論の検索等に計り知れない便宜が与えられることは疑いなく、その点はあえてここで強調しておきたい。作成する定本は、活字化して公開するのが建前であるが、そのためにはさらに莫大な経費が必要であり、条件が整えば、国内外に向けてインターネット上でテキスト公開することも現在検討中である。
