以下是本研究项目在日本山形县庄内地区实地考察的结果。农业机械化和“水田减少政策”的实施，使妇女在农村家庭中的角色和地位结构发生了一场革命。继承人妻子的劳动由于其非农业工作的工资而被设定为高价值。每个家庭成员负责的每一份工作都是对他负责的，包括农业工作和家务劳动。他能按自己的意愿做决定。家庭主妇的生活成本管理不同于农业成本管理，而不是家长的生活成本管理。研究结果表明：1.农户家庭成员曾参与过农户的分工，农户经济曾是主要的家庭经济来源。现在我们可以把日本的农户定义为“IE”（传统的日本家庭农场）。

The following is the result of this research project based on fieldwork in Shonai region, Ymagata Prefecture in Japan. There is a revolution in the structure of women's role and position in farm family as a result of farm mechanization and " the policy for reducing paddy field".The sides of changing :1. The labour of successor's wife is set high valued as a result of her nonagricultural jobs' wages.2. Each allotment of work in charge of each family member is responsiblity to him both agriculture work and household work. He can make decisions of his own will.3. Not patriarch but housewife can manage the cost of living differentiated from the cost of agriculture management.The sides of nochanging :1. Members of stem family have ever been engaged in the division of work in farm household.A main family budget have ever been in farm household economy.2. We can define today's Japanese farm household as " IE" (traditional type of Japanese family farm) even now.
