One of the purpose of rehabilitation for the aged is to increase the activity of their own. It is important that the medical staff understand the results statistically of the activity and exercise function in the daily life and hospital inside of the aged and others. For this measurement, the non-restricted type portable instrument has been developed for the long-term ambulatory monitoring of human posture. To analyse daily posture change of elderly, the portable instrument was adopted, and experiments of 8-hours' monitoring of posture under daily life were performed using twelve female subjects aged from 70 to 85. And we used six female subjects aged neer by 20 years old compare with them. From the data obtained by histogram, animation and walking speed data analysis, it was clearly demonstrated that the standing speed and sittings speed in chair. On the other hand, it must be discussed that medical staff and patients families always assist in daily activities, especially transfer movement, for taking care of the handicapped and aged. Physical and occupational therapists are familiar with the best to use their body mechanics during patient care to protect from low back pain. In contract, nurses and other care staff can sometimes induce shoulder pain and low back pain because they are less well informed. The purpose of this study is to compare the lumber movements of nurses and therapists in their daily working. 2 nurses and 4 therapists were asked to serve as the subjects of the reseach. The lumber and knee movements were examined by a motion analyzer over 6 hours in their daily working. Standing and trunk bending postures were well identified in nurses while a combining standing and sitting postures were predominant in the therapists as seen by motion analysis. Their results show the importance of educating nurses to use more knee bending motions during their handling of the handicapped.
