项目摘要

筆者は上記継続中の研究を集成するにあたり、その理念として「我が国の長い歴史に育まれ、現在の世代に守り続けられてきた黄檗美術は貴重な国民的財産であり、我が国の歴史・文化の理解のためには欠くことの出来ない特質的なもの」と位置付けている。よって、平成10年度から3年間の科学研究費(萌芽的研究)補助金による筆者の実測調査は黄檗山萬福寺・同宗務本院・黄檗文化研究所・黄檗寺院、鹿島美術財団、北海道医療大学等の全面的援助を得ながら、最終到達目標の「黄檗文化財の保全と宗風の充実に大きく寄与する」ことに大きな第一歩となっている。特に、仏像彫刻は黄檗美術の中でも独特の様式美として新たな美の世界を開示させており、「黄檗様」と呼称される時代様式を確立することになるが、本研究は未だその中間報告であり、今後、およそ半数の黄檗寺院実測調査が必要である。一層の助成と援助を期すばかりである。
