项目摘要

岩手山麓の裾野に位置する玉山村の生出野(おいでの)地区は、岩手山麓からの冷涼な伏流水が湧き出す地帯であり、北上川の低平河川平野部に比べ標高も高く、稲作には必ずしも適した地帯ではなく、耕作放棄水田が各所に見られる。又、岩手県北部に位置する山間地帯の浄法寺町に於いても同様の耕作放棄田が見られる。そこで、本研究では岩手県浄法寺町と同玉山村に於いて、休耕田の一部を利用した土構造の底盤とその四周に巡らした畦を造成して、それぞれ約30m^2程度のワサビ田試験田を造成し、ワサビ栽培に取り組んだ。火山灰台地にあって、幾代にも亘って形成されてきた植物の根や土中動物の活動による穿孔によって、大小の無数の孔隙構造が台地の隅々まで、そして深くまで発達しており,自然のままで整地した場合には切り土部に於いて、過大な漏水が生じることが予測された。そこで、ワサビ田試験田が漏水を生じぬように、表土を剥いだ上、現地土をトラクターで破砕し、ブルドーザ(もしくはトラクタ)の履帯で転圧した底盤と畦による漏水の極めて少ない構造のワサビ田造成を目指したものである。本工法によるワサビ田造成は、稲作を行うには条件が不利な地域の故に耕作を放棄している中山間地水田に於いて、ワサビを栽培し、農家所得が増大する事を目ざすものである。
