昨年までの研究により、顆粒層マイナス群とプラス群の各々につき、乾癬組織の構築モデルが決定された(Iizuka et al.J Invest Dermatol 109:806-810,1997)。顆粒層のマイナスの乾癬は、成長しつつある乾癬であり、顆粒層プラスの乾癬は、定常状態ないし縮小しつつある乾癬である。この2つの状態が確定したことから両者の相互移行の機構が計算上導き出される。その結果,顆粒層マイナスの乾癬は真皮乳頭高(H)が360ミクロンまでは、Hがより小さい顆粒層プラス乾癬と相互移行すること、一方、Hが360ミクロン以上では、真皮乳頭高Hがより大きい顆粒層プラス乾癬と移行することが示された。後者は乳頭腫構築をもたらすことになるが、現実の乾癬はHが比較的小さく、360ミクロン以上になることは例外的なため、いわゆる乾癬様組織構築が維持されるものと推定される(Iizuka et al.J Dermatol Sci21:105-112,1999)。また顆粒層マイナス乾癬の組織構築の維持においては、表皮細胞の急速な死が関与していること、またそこにはインターフェロンγの関与が想定されることが示された。(Ishida-Yamamoto,Iizuka et al.J Invest Dermatol Symp Proc 4:145-149,1999;Tahakashi,Iizuka et al.Biochem J 344:797-802,1999)
