今年度の夏期に予定されていた乗鞍岳山上での共同観測は観測棟(静岡大)設置に時間を要すとともに、観測棟の試運転時に改良点が見つかり、改良に時間を要したこともあり、共同観測は中止になった。本研究課題を遂行するために購入した機器は観測棟の試運転後に搬入・共同観測に供する予定であったために、観測用に改良・実験室でのテスト運転を修了し、乗鞍岳観測棟への搬入を待機している。他方、観測棟の試運転時に行われた予備観測において別途採集された試料による顕微FT-IR観測において、硫酸(塩)と硝酸(塩)との内部混合状態の可能性が観察されたが、本観測による採集は順延されている。以上述べたごとく、備品費、旅費および消耗品費などの経費は研究準備段階で消費され、試料採集はできなかった。そこで、冬期の地上での観測を試みているが、予測と同じく人為起源の有機物による汚染の影響が強く検出され、ラッシュ時やウイークデイなど、人間の活動度に対応することが多く、エアロゾルの生成に関する情報は得にくい。しかし、多くの有機物は気温の低下により、ガス状からエアロゾル態に移行している傾向が認められている。平成12年度に申請している研究費が採択されれば、しかも、乗鞍岳山上に設置した観測棟が無事に越冬できたならば、可能な限りの夏期と秋期、さらに初冬の観測を予定している。
