项目摘要

1.プラトンが組織的に言語理論を分析している作品「クラテュロス」を考察し、彼自身の立場を明らかにしようとした。「クラテュロス」では、名前(語)の正しさを「取り決め」と「同意」に求めるヘルモゲネス(ソクラテス学徒の一人)の「規約説」と、名前はもともと事物に自然によって定まっており、その正しさは習慣や「取り決め」ではなく、名前と事物との自然的関係に求められるとするクラテュロス(ヘラクレイトス派の哲学者)の「自然説」とが検討され、いずれの説も対話者のソクラテス(=プラトン)によって論駁されてゆく。こうした議論の展開から、今日までの大方の解釈は、プラトンは「規約説」と「自然説」のどちらにも加担しておらず、それぞれの難点を指摘し、両説の批判を企てていると認定してきたが、本研究は、プラトンがクラテュロスの「模写説」としての「自然説」を斥け、「規約説」の立場を採用していることを確認した。2.名前にまで真偽を認めるプラトンの見解は批判にさらされてきたが、本研究は、(1)プラトンが真偽を認めているのは名前そのものではなく、名指しであること、また(2)彼は、主述関係の言明よりもむしろ、名指しという言語行為をより根源的なものと捉えていること、そして(3)真なる名指しとは、事物の<本質>と照応する名前使用であることを明らかにし、(2)(3)の点にプラトンの言語哲学の独自性を認めた。3.メタ倫理学における事実・価値問題はプラトンの言語哲学の視座から解消されることを論じ、認識あるいは言明の真理性と善の概念との密接な連関のうちに、プラトンの言語哲学と倫理学との結節点を見出した。
