促成栽培の増加により農業に占めるハウス農業の比率は増加。一方、ハウス農業従事者にも少子高齢化の波が押し寄せ、将来は老年人口まで労働力を求めなくてはいけない。高齢者には生活習慣病を抱えているものも多く、健康管理,作業管理の対策が求められている。本研究は3年計画で「ハウス農業従事者における作業標準の策定」を課題として研究を行い、最終年度の平成13年度には全国のハウス従事者が便用できるマニュアルを作成するものである。初年度の平成11年度は、ビニールハウスによる施設園芸が盛んな土地である愛知県A町において、ハウス内作業の実態調査,およびハウス内の環境測定と、ハウス農業従事者の循環器疾患を中心とした生活習慣病の調査を行った。ハウス内作業の実態調査は、A町内の四軒の農家(メロン栽培二軒,菊栽培二軒)の協力を得て、(1)作業動作(2)作業姿勢(3)作業時間を分析しハウス内作業の問題点を抽出した。その結果、狭い作業空間での作業では筋肉・骨格系の負担が予想以上に強く、苗の段階では「前屈作業」と「静的作業性疲労]が負担を与え、全身的な影響としては血圧などの循環器系にも大きな影響を及ぼしていた。メロン栽培のように肩から上での作業が増えると「肩こり」を訴えるものも多く、「肩関節周囲炎」や「頚肩腕症候群」にも関係が疑われる。作業環境ではハウス農業は高い室内温との戦いともいえる。高温下作業では水分と塩分の喪失による「熱中症」対策が必需であり、今回の調査でもハウス農業従事者が水分補給の標準を求めていることが判明した。ハウス農業従事者の循環器疾患を中心とした生活習慣病調査は、A町の協力のもと浜松医科大学が中心となり、研究者担当者の4名がすべて参加して平成11年7月24日から29日にかけて資料収集を行い、ハウス作業における作業負荷や熱中症の影響が明らかになった。
