1) The granule proteins of eosinophils were initially induced in the cytoplasm via finetubles and then diffused in the extracellular space through micro-destruction of the plasma membrane. When the eosinophil lysis was advanced, a large amount of granule contents was released into the extracellular space.2) The epithelial damage, which was conspicuous intercellular edema or epithelial shedding, was found to be remarkable in the anterior nasal mucosae, but minor in the posterior nasal mucosae. The total number of the eosinophils which migrated to epithelial region was not significantly different between in the damaged epithelium and in the intact one. But the rate of cytolytic eosinophils was significantly higher in the area of severely shedded epithelium than in the area of intact epithelium.3) The epithelial damage which was conspicuous intercellular edema or epithelial shedding was found to be remarkable in the anterior nasal mucosae, but minor in the posterior nasal mucosae. The total number of the eosinophils which migrated to epithelial region was not significantly different between in the damaged epithelium and in the intact one. But the rate of cytolytic eosinophils was significantly higher in the area of severely shedded epithelium than in the area of intact epithelium.4) ECP in serum was released from destroyed eosinophils in test tube after the blood collection and it indicated the easiness of eosinophil destruction.
