1. Report from Hokusetsu which located in the north part of Osaka PrefectureThis is a report from the pilot study for whole Osaka project. Project area covers approximately 170 million inhabitans. This pilot study has finished and from this pilot study we published five papers.2. Report from Osaka projectWe started the meeting for Osaka project from 1996. Then the project had started from March 1^<st> 1998. The data was prospectively collected from whole Osaka Prefecture without any missing case. Until April 30^<th> 1999, 5047 cases were collected as a first year result. Then 5092 cases, 5158 cases were collected per year following years. Analyzed results were presented in the annual meeting of Japanese Association for Acute Medicine. In the meeting of 2000, the analyses of time factor, the analysis of cases witnessed by the emergency personnels, the analyzes of unwitnessed cases, the analyses of pediatric cases, the analyses of VF cases, and the effects of bystander CPR were presented. In these six papers, an analysis of time factors in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in Osaka Prefecture has been published in Resuscitation. In the meeting of 2001 the relationship between medical control, the defibrillated cases, neurological outcome, age and sex analyses, and concerning about chain of survival were presented. It is crucial for this study to have an campaign to non-medical people in order to increase the bystander CPR activity. Therefore we made a textbook for non-medical people to report the results of this project. The project is still continued.
