项目摘要

本研究は、平成12年度から14年度までの3年間の継続研究として、単なる疾病(disease)ではなく病気(illness)体験に焦点を当て、人々がどのような主観的経験を得てそれにどのように対処していこうとするのかについて、特にsocial action theoryの視点から質的にとらえようとしたものである。具体的には、病院等から紹介されまた調査への参加を承諾した、糖尿病などの慢性疾患をかかえる患児とその母親とを対象として、調査開始時と終了時における面接や、その間の3〜6ヶ月におよぶ母子それぞれの記録をまとめることを通して、当事者である子どもとその母親の病気についての語り(narrative)を把握し、また母子がその病気への対処をテーマとするjoint actionをどのように行いどのように日々を過ごしてゆくのかについて、経過を追って分析するものである。今回用いた方法は、本研究者が、進路決定や健康教育に関する親子のjoint actionに関する国外でのプロジェクト参加から学んだ技法であるが、日本で患児と母親に対して実施する際にはいくつかの点で慎重な検討や修正を必要としたため、実際の母子データを得るための作業の開始が大幅に遅れるという事態となった。また、1組の母子についての追跡に3〜6ヶ月を要し、調査期間終了後に行うその間の莫大なデータのまとめにもまた長時間を要する。そのため、当初の予定数に対する調査をまだ終了する時期にいたっておらず、現在なお数事例の母子について追跡中である。予定した調査期間を終了しデータをすべてとりまとめた上で、全事例を分析した最終的な知見を提出したい。
