1.The effects of a strong laser field on the formation rate of antihydrogen in low-energy collisions between positronium with antiproton have been studied. The rate has been found to increase if the parameters for the laser field (e.g., intensity, frequency ; polarization) are appropriately chosen.2.A simple diabatic-ionization model has been established to obtain the cross section for exotic atom formation approximately. It reproduces accurate quantum mechanical results for simple systems very well, and also makes it possible to obtain information on complex systems for which accurate calculations are impossible.3.Extraordinarily long-lived exotic atoms were found experimentally only for helium, but the existence of and the possibility of the formation of long-lived exotic lithium and other exotic alkali atoms have been predicted theoretically.4.Muon transfer from hydrogenlike muonic atoms to proton isotopes has been treated quantum mechanically in terms of the hyperspherical-coordinate coupled-channel (HSCC) equations to obtain extremely accurate cross sections.5.Electron-positron pair annihilation in collisions of positrons with atoms and molecules has been studied by an entirely new theory using a complex potential. This leads to a threshold behavior that is very different from the well-known Wigner threshold law, and to newly found interference effects between direct and indirect annihilation processes.6.Some particularly broad resonances in positron scattering by the helium ion predicted in the literature have been denied definitively by the accurate HSCC calculations and a new theoretical method for resonance analysis.7.Photon-impact electron detachment from the positronium negative ions has been studied accurately by using the HSCC method. Rich resonance structure in the cross sections has been found.
