This study aims to analyze the urban system of western Europe from the standpoint of the economic management function. The author studied the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. In this analysis, the author analyzed western Europe as a nation. The author analyzed its urban system from the following 3 points, namely 1) population, 2) distribution of large firms' head offices and branch companies, 3) banking networks. The important conclusions are as follows,(1) London is the number one city in regard of head offices. The second city is Paris. They have many branch companies, too, The major cities of western Europe have intimate networks between each other.(2) Madrid, Lisbon, Dublin, Oslo and Vienna have a few head offices, but they have many branch companies.(3) The capitals of Germany, Italy and Switzerland do not have many head offices, but they have many branch companies.(4) Geographical distance is a very important factor in the distribution of branch companies.

本研究旨在从经济管理职能的角度分析西欧的城市体系。作者研究了英国、爱尔兰、法国、西班牙、葡萄牙、意大利、奥地利、瑞士、比利时、荷兰、卢森堡、德国、丹麦、挪威、瑞典和芬兰。在这篇分析中，作者将西欧作为一个国家进行了分析。笔者从以下3点来分析其城市体系，即1）人口，2）大企业总分公司的分布，3）银行网络。主要结论如下：(1)伦敦是总部数量第一的城市。第二个城市是巴黎。他们也有很多分公司，西欧主要城市之间也有密切的网络。（2）马德里、里斯本、都柏林、奥斯陆、维也纳等国家的总公司较少，但分公司较多。（3）德国、意大利、瑞士的首都，总公司不多，但分公司较多。（4）地理距离是分公司分布的一个非常重要的因素。
