定年退職後の生活を心豊かで幸福に過ごすためには、新しい生活スタイルに適応した役割や目標の再設定が必要である。本研究では、退職後の生活変化に早期に適応する上で必要な準備について明らかにし、早期適応を支援する方策を見いだすことを目的に、現役サラリーマンおよび定年退職者計2,000名を対象に、郵送によるアンケート調査を行った。有効回答数は現役サラリーマン635名(64%)、定年退職者745名(75%)であった。その結果、定年退職者では、現役時代から退職後の生活を具体的にイメージしていたものほど主観的幸福感(PGCモラル得点)が高く、他の者に比べて、定年後の生活が「悪くなった」と答えた者が有意に少なかった。また、主観的幸福感の高い者ほど健康状態、経済状況、社会とのつながり等の満足度が高く、友人数も4名以上と多かった(P<0.001)。退職後の生活を経験し、より一層準備が必要だと思う項目は、「経済基盤」、「健康づくり」、「生きがいづくり」、「友人づくり」、「社会とのつながり」などであった。一方現役サラリーマンについてみると、定年退職後の生活像について「具体的にイメージしている」と答えた者は1割未満であり、自由記載欄に「アンケートを通して準備の必要性を意識した」との記述が多くみられた。また、退職後の生活に向けて準備が必要だと思う項目および準備している項目についてみると、いずれも「健康づくり」、「経済基盤」が上位であった。「社会とのつながり」の項では、約4割の者が「準備が必要」だと答えていたが、実際に準備を行っているものは1割未満と少なく、方法や機会がないといった意見がみられた。これらから、現役時から定年後の生活を具体的に思い描き、準備に取り組むこと等の重要性と、実行が容易となるための基盤整備の必要性が明らかとなった。今後、事業所と地域が連携した教育機会の整備、活動基盤づくりなど、職場や地域社会のバックアップが不可欠である。今回得られた結果は、学会で発表するとともに、協力事業所および希望者への配布を行う。僅かではあるが退職生活への準備の参考となれば幸いである。
