平成十四度の研究実績は、二月末の時点で、九件のインタビュー収録と一本の論文発表となる。九件のインタビューの内訳は、男性二件と女性七件である。特筆すべきは、男性のインタビューが二件収録できたことである。摂食障害者のほとんどは女性とされ、男性は数少ないとされている。男女比は、一対二十から一対十の割合と言われている。今回初めて男性の摂食障害者の事例を収集できたことで、摂食障害研究における新たにジェンダー的な対比と考察が可能となった。男性摂食障害者の事例研究は、論文発表の形でまとめたいと思う。また女性の摂食障害者についても、興味深い事例が得られた。それは、摂食障害という症状と、美的身体へのこだわりとの関連である。この美的身体へのこだわりは、美的身体を形成するための消費行動という点と、美的身体にかかわる仕事へのこだわりという点に現れていた。ある女性摂食障害者は美容師の見習いとして働いており、他の女性摂食障害者はエステ勤務の後、コンパニオンとして働いている。摂食障害と美的な産業との関連について、今後考察を深めたいと思う。論文は、二十五人の摂食障害者へのインタビューをもとに、摂食障害とその家族との関連を考察したものである。「摂食障害は家族によって生み出される」とする家族要因説を批判的に検討している。結論的には、家族要因説のみで摂食障害を語ることはできず、そしてそのように語ってしまうことの危険性を指摘している。
