【予備研究】中学生における幹線道路および母乳摂取とアレルギー疾患等との関連についてそれぞれ論文が受理された。予備研究の派生的に行った水道水硬度と脳卒中死亡率との関連についての論文も受理された。現在、アトビー家族歴と中学生におけるアレルギ疾患との関連、水道水硬度とアトピー性皮膚炎及び冠動脈疾患死亡率との関連についての計3編を投稿している。【母子保健コホート研究】当初、大阪府寝屋川市在住の妊婦のみを対象としていたが、参加者割合が予定を下回ったため(5割の参加率の予定が実際は約2割)、8月より大阪府枚方市、交野市、四条畷市、貝塚市および高石市の5市において、市が実施する両親教室で本研究のパンフレットを保健師より参加した妊婦に手渡していただいている。また、調査協力9産科医療機関(18医療機関中)においても病院で実施する両親教室において調査の勧誘をしていただいている。9月より大阪府阪南市において母子保健手帳交付者全員に保健師より本研究のパンフレットを簡単な説明を添えて手渡していただいている。10月より大阪市、東大阪市と泉佐野市の3産科医療機関においても外来受診の妊婦に本研究のパンフレットを看護婦より手渡していただいている。平成15年1月末現在、ベースライン調査に約800名の妊婦が参加した。最終的に約1000名の妊婦の参加を見込んでいる。8月より生後4ヶ月時の追跡調査を開始した。ベースライン調査に回答した対象者の概ね8〜9割が4ヶ月時の追跡調査に協力している。ベースライン調査の予備解析では高いホルムアルデヒド暴露は妊婦のアレルギー既往と関連する傾向にあった。
