第2年度は、初年度に行った予備実験を基に、「音声連鎖中の言いにくさ」の定量化のための実験を進めた。また、それに関する音声的制約を検討した。実験と平行して、最適性理論の枠組みで、認知システム内における調音的制約の普遍性に関する研究を進めた。どの程度まで複雑な制約が、認知システム内の普遍的制約として存在しうるのかということを日本語、ドイツ語、ポナペン語などの具体的なデータをもとに検証した。その検証をもとに、複雑な制約を生得的な要素として提案する際の以下の3つの条件を提案した。(1)普遍性の検証ある言語を分析するために新しい複雑な制約を提案する際、かならず他の言語(少なくとも2〜3言語)においてもその制約が重要な位置にランク付けすることを確認する。(2)類型論的妥当性の検証新たな制約を含む全てのランキングの可能性を検証し、存在しえない音韻現象の言語のタイプがないことを確認する。(3)声学的見地からの複雑性の検証音声学的、科学的に人間の発音として根拠のある複雑な制約は生得的な構成要素と考える。反対の音声学的根拠のないものは簡潔化する。実験、制約の研究ともにまだ途中の段階ではあるが、中間発表として、研究発表の所に記載したような国内外の学会での発表を行った。上記の実験、研究をともに深めることに加え、今後、「言いにくさ」だけでなく、「聞きにくさ」の定量的扱いのために、発話速度、ピッチなどの条件を統制して作成した音声刺激を用いて聴取実験を行う必要がある。研究計画に従い、実験と理論面での精緻化を進めて行きたい。
