项目摘要

科学研究費補助金(若手研究B)を受け、パキスタンに存在する財閥についての研究を遂行することができ、また私自身にとってもじつに実りのある研究生活を送ることができた。以下に、2年間の活動内容を記すことで研究実績にかえたい。平成14年度は、主に日本国内でのパキスタン経済・企業などについての文献調査、および現地調査に必要となる基礎資料の収集を行った。具体的には、アジア経済研究所、日本パキスタン協会、日本商工会議所、在日パキスタン大使館などに足を運び、資料(史料)の収集、ならびに意見交換、インタビューを実施した。「徹底した現地主義」をモットーにのぞんだ今回の研究であったが、国際的な社会状況の変化(悪化、アフガン問題、イラク問題等)により、パキスタン現地での調査を実施することができなかった。しかし、比較の観点を取り入れるためドバイ(UAE)に存在する財閥の調査を行うことができた。また今回の研究で、戦前神戸で活躍したムスリム商人(企業家)が現在パキスタンで財閥として活躍している事実を確認した(バーワニー財閥:同財閥は神戸モスク建設に多大な献金を行っている)。戦前神戸で活躍したムスリム企業家の活動の解明なども今後の課題としたい。今回、ラークサン財閥とバーワニー財閥を中心に調査を行った。両財閥とも現在、パキスタンで有力な財閥である。バーワニー財閥は、上記したように同財閥の創業者は戦前神戸で貿易商として活躍した人物である。バーワニーについては、今後さらに財閥の関係者とコンタクトをとり調査を行いたい。ラークサン財閥は、1980年代以降にタバコなどの消費財の製造販売で急成長した財閥である。今回の研究で、財閥一族の兼任役員一覧、および一族の株式の所有状況(かなり詳細な)、主要一族の最終学歴一覧、また傘下企業間の持ち株関係などを明らかにした。引き続き、今回の研究で得られた成果をベースに、パキスタンに存在する財閥の形成過程の研究を行っていきたい。また、比較の観点を取り入れるため、他のイスラーム諸国に存在する財閥の形成過程も研究対象とし、ムスリム企業家・財閥の国際比政を行いたい。
