本研究のねらいは,通信路において発生する雑音を数学的に分類することで,効率の良い高信頼性の通信路符号化・復号化の基礎理論の構築とその性能評価を行なうことである.本年度までの研究により,符号空間及び受信空間に半距離構造を導入することで,バースト消失も含む複合した雑音を理論的に扱え,定量的に計ることを可能にした.ここで,半距離構造とは,距離の公理の一つ三角不等式を完全に満たさないような距離関数により定義される距離である.半距離構造により,従来の誤りや消失も問題なく扱え,復号の基本概念として距離の構造を利用したものを利用できることを明らかにした.この概念を用いるとで,従来からの我々の複合誤り制御に関する研究成果を有効に利用でき,従来の他の研究では明らかにされていなかった積符号や連接符号など理論と応用(実用)の両側面で重要な符号の訂正能力を向上させることができた.さらに,それらの復号法に関しても理論的限界まで訂正可能な手法を提案することができた.また,受信語からハミング距離で最も近い距離にあるすべての符号語且つそれのみを含む集合を求める問題(nearest neighboring set(NNS)problem)とその解法について提案した.
